Iskandar Innovations Sdn. Bhd. (IISB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) announced that it is establishing a Virtual Reality Center of Excellence (VR CoE) in Iskandar Malaysia with South Korea's largest telephone company, KT.
Officials at KT headquarters in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, including Dr Yoon Kyungrim, head of KT's global business, and Datuk Ir. Khairil Anwar Ahmad, President/CEO of IIB, attended the brief ceremony.
Iskandar Malaysia, situated in the south of Johor, bordering Singapore, is one of the fastest economic development corridors in Malaysia. Twice the size of Hong Kong, Iskandar Malaysia aims to complement Singapore with offers of high-value economic sectors such as education, leisure & tourism, healthcare, logistics, creative and global business services. IIB is a strategic developer focused on driving economic growth in Iskandar Malaysia via development of catalytic projects.
KT said Malaysia has the third-largest economy in Southeast Asia and because of its high growth potential, KT had decided to mark its overseas advancement with the establishment of the VR CoE. Through a collaboration agreement with IISB, KT said it would introduce its technologies to Malaysia while continuously enhancing its Research & Development (R&D). Also, it is planning to pursue a joint business development through comprehensive cooperation in various fields of platforms for businesses such as 5G network and solutions, energy and security.
Yoon Kyung-rim, head of KT's global business promotion division, said, "With this agreement with IISB, we have shared the know-how of KT's VR business through our successful business experience in Malaysia."
